Spotting Chatty Screens Before Users Complain
Chatty screens rarely announce themselves in crash rates. They show up as elevated call counts per session, longer time-to-interactive, and mysterious quota bills.
Group API calls by screen or route for a fixed observation window. Flag outliers against a simple threshold—for example, more than eight distinct endpoints on first paint without a clear product reason.
Then walk the waterfall with a product owner present. Many calls exist because two teams each added a fetch rather than sharing a payload. Consolidation is a product decision dressed as telemetry.
We include chatty-screen findings in every Endpoint Consumption Report for UK product teams who want quieter apps without guessing.
